OUR COMMITMENT TO EQUITY
We believe that quality math instruction for everyone moves us towards equity, and leads to greater opportunity for historically marginalized students. That is why we focus on access to excellent math instruction and building a network of capable, confident math learners and educators. Read on to learn more about our commitment to equity and what it looks like in action.
EQUITY & INCLUSION
WHAT WE DO & WHAT DRIVES US
Our mission at All Learners Network (ALN) is to cultivate a community of educators that promote math equity and inclusion for all students.
OUR WHAT
The heart of what we do
We, at All Learners Network (ALN), want to continuously work toward equity through math education.
There are inequities in our current society that impact our education system and our math classrooms.
We can play a role in interrupting unjust systems so that we can reimagine better structures that provide quality math instruction and positive outcomes for all students.
We strive to continually recognize the ways in which our current teaching practices include or exclude others, and we work to cultivate a welcoming and productive learning environment for all.
OUR HOW
How we get it done
We focus on access to excellent math instruction for all students because it creates opportunities for higher levels of learning and better lives.
We believe that everyone is capable of learning and understanding math conceptually at high levels–when provided with consistent access to high quality teaching of grade level content.
We believe we can transform math instruction from being an opportunity gatekeeper to an opportunity gateway for all students.
We know success in Algebra is one of the highest predictors of high school graduation and a gateway to college matriculation.
We use the ALN High Leverage Concepts–the key mathematical understandings that all students need to engage with grade-level content the following year–to create a pathway for all students to be successful in Algebra.
